Georgia may be more associated with peaches, but did you know that North Carolina is the seventh-highest producer of peaches nationally, producing an average of 3.6 million pounds for market each year?
Common peach varieties in North Carolina include Biscoe, Candor, Carolina Belle, Derby and Norman. In a tribute to the popular and juicy fruit, the town of Candor, “The Peach Capital of North Carolina” stages an annual Peach Festival. In 2023, the popular event celebrated its 25th anniversary.
