Subject: Changes to 2020 Festival
Due to the ongoing concerns over the Coronavirus, the Board of Directors has made some changes to this year’s Festival. We have determined that we are unable to hold a Street Fair including the associated Entertainment and Kiddie Carnival, as well as, the King Apple Parade. Due to our street layout we are not able to control the number of attendees, which would allow for social distancing. This decision was made after speaking with local leaders in government and in the health field. We believe that in the best interest of the future of the Festival, the Apple industry and our Community not to hold these events.
We are not cancelling the Festival. The history of the North Carolina Apple Festival goes back many years prior to the Street Fair. Originally, the Festival Board worked with the Downtown Merchants and local Non-Profits who operated events. We are currently reaching out to these groups to see their plans for 2020. Many of them may be able to implement social distancing. We will be working with them to promote their event through our website and social media.
We are proud to have a great relationship with our local Apple industry. We still plan on encouraging persons to support our Apple growers. We will be using our website; social media and advertisements throughout our area to encourage the purchase of North Carolina Apples this Fall.
We will begin immediately to begin planning for next year’s event which will be our 75th North Carolina Apple Festival!
